Polynucleotides | Skin Regeneration & Skin Boosters
Do you want fresher, smoother, and more resilient skin, but don’t want to change the appearance of your face or add extra volume? Then polynucleotides may be an exciting treatment option for you. At ORVĒA in Berlin, we focus on aesthetic medicine that preserves your natural radiance. Instead of artificially altering individual facial features, treatment with polynucleotides focuses on the quality and regeneration of your skin.
Polynucleotides are used as a regenerative or biostimulating injection treatment. They can help the skin retain moisture more effectively, improve elasticity and skin structure, and stimulate regenerative processes in the tissue. This treatment is particularly effective for fine lines, tired or thin-looking skin, and sensitive areas such as the eye area. At ORVĒA, we always assess which treatment is right for you on an individual basis.
What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides—or PNs for short—consist of long chains of nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA. In aesthetic medicine, highly purified preparations are used, which, depending on the product, are derived from DNA fractions of salmon or trout. They are injected in small amounts into or under the skin, where they are intended to promote a regenerative environment.
Unlike traditional fillers, the primary focus here is not on restoring volume. Rather, the goal is to support skin health from within. The current scientific literature describes, among other things, potential improvements in hydration, elasticity, texture, and fine lines. At the same time, it is important to note that research in this area is still evolving, and not every advertised benefit has yet been conclusively proven by large, high-quality long-term studies.
How do polynucleotides affect your skin?
Polynucleotides are hydrophilic, meaning they can bind water, and form a temporary, gel-like matrix in the tissue. At the same time, various regenerative mechanisms are being discussed, including those involving fibroblasts and dermal tissue regeneration. For you, this means that the treatment is aimed less at an immediate “filler effect” and more at a gradual improvement in skin texture.
More moisture: The skin can look more hydrated, plump, and fresh.
Improved skin texture: Unevenness and fine lines may appear visually reduced.
Greater elasticity: Regenerative processes can help improve the skin's firmness and quality.
Natural result: Since the focus isn't on creating significant volume, your facial features essentially remain intact.
Which conditions can be treated with polynucleotides?
Depending on the product used, its approval status, and your individual skin condition, polynucleotides can be applied to various areas. The face and the skin around the eyes are particularly common treatment areas.
Eye Area & Dark Circles: For fine lines, skin that appears thin or dry, and those seeking improved skin quality.
Face: For general biorevitalization and to support hydration, elasticity, and texture.
Cheeks: when the skin appears tired, dry, or uneven in texture, without the primary goal of adding volume.
Neck and décolleté: depending on the product and individual needs, to support skin quality and elasticity.
Other Areas: Certain PN products and protocols are also used on other areas of the skin. We'll determine on a case-by-case basis whether this is right for you.
Polynucleotides for the Eye Area in Berlin
The skin under the eyes is particularly thin and sensitive. That is precisely why the eye area is one of the most common areas of application for polynucleotides. If your eyes look tired, fine lines become visible, or the skin appears thin and dry, a regenerative treatment may be beneficial.
Polynucleotides do not automatically replace tear trough injections, nor are they a traditional volume filler. At ORVĒA, we therefore take a close look: Are your main concerns skin quality and fine lines, loss of volume, pigmentation, or anatomically caused shadows? Only then do we decide together which treatment is truly right for your eye area.
