Botulinum toxin / Botox®
Botox® Behandlung Berlin: Falten, Masseter, Hyperhidrose und Dip Flip bei Dr. Caliskan.
Botulinum toxin type A/B, commonly known as “Botox,” is a neuromodulator that temporarily blocks signal transmission between nerves and muscle or gland cells. By selectively reducing muscle activity, overactive muscles can be relaxed, and their effect on the skin, facial features, and contours can be specifically targeted. In aesthetic medicine, Botox thus offers far more than just traditional wrinkle smoothing.
Botox is particularly well known for treating expression lines such as forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet. The targeted relaxation of the muscles can smooth out existing lines, counteract a stern or tense facial expression, and at the same time prevent the formation of deeper wrinkles. This can make the face appear fresher, more relaxed, and more youthful.
In addition, botulinum toxin can be used specifically to create a more balanced appearance and achieve subtle lifting effects. With the Nefertiti Lift, the downward pull of the platysma is reduced, which can make the jawline more defined, soften jowls, and make the neck and lower face appear firmer. Downward-turning corners of the mouth can be visually lifted, while treatment of a “strawberry chin” smooths out the typical dimpled texture and makes the chin area appear softer.
By specifically relaxing individual muscles, facial proportions can also be subtly altered without adding extra volume. For example, a “lip flip” can gently turn the upper lip outward, making it appear more prominent—all without fillers or added volume. The nose can also be visually harmonized through targeted muscle activation, lifting the tip of the nose and making it appear narrower. Treating the masseter muscle, in turn, can narrow the lower face and create a softer contour—an effect often referred to as “facial slimming.” Even the neck and shoulder area can be incorporated into the harmonization of facial proportions. TrapTox, also known as “Barbie Botox,” can soften the shoulder line and make the neck appear longer and slimmer.
In addition to aesthetic applications, botulinum toxin is also used to treat functional conditions. These include hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) as well as bruxism and teeth grinding through treatment of the masseter muscle. Botulinum toxin can also be used medically for certain pain syndromes and muscle tension, including chronic migraines and certain neck and shoulder complaints.
Individualized planning, precise placement, and tailored dosing are crucial for achieving a natural-looking Botox result. The goal is to specifically reduce unwanted muscle activity while preserving natural facial expressions and individual facial features. This ensures that the result looks fresh, harmonious, and natural, rather than stiff or mask-like.
